I really enjoyed 'Presumed Innocent', so approached this sequel with eager anticipation. Have to say I found it a wee bit disappointing, not as good as the original in my opinion. It took me a while to get into the story, and I found the constantly moving timelines and multiple narrators a bit confusing. Nevertheless, it was an enjoyable read. I found some of the story lines relating to the affair between Rusty and Anna, and Rusty's emotional commitments (or lack thereof) to son and wife were quite thought provoking.

A great summer read, easy and predicable!

I had to slow myself down reading this book ... to savour it to the fullest. That's how good this book is. In fact I'm a little depressed now, not knowing when another one of this calibre will come by ...

Not as good as the first, but definitely worth reading if you were invested in or intrigued by Turow's characters on the first go-round.

This fascinating analysis of the psychology behind an affair keeps you forever turning to the next page. Right to the last you are kept wondering: what exactly did happen? Judge Rusty Sabich is turning 60 and he’s “taking it like a bullet.” In 36 years of marriage to his beautiful and brilliant but slightly crazy wife Barbara, he had only succumbed once to a fling... with disastrous results. But he gives in again on his 60th, to a much younger law clerk in his office who is attracted to his position and power... with equally disastrous results. The computer plays a major role in this case, befitting our times. Well worth reading on many levels.

I read Presumed Innocent many years ago--when it came out. I had a look at it recently in order to get ready for this, which is a sequel. I didn't actually think it was as good as I remembered. Imagine my delight, though, at discovering that this is a really good read--I think better than the first. Moves right along, good plot, nice characters. There are a few times when you want to kick one or another of them for being so dense about this or that, but at least you care enough to want to kick them. I felt there were a few spots were it loosened up and started to lose momentum. But on the whole I'd say an excellent read--on the light side--escapist--but excellent.

Great book+++. Hope they make a movie starring Harrison Ford again.

I enjoyed this novel and benefited from just having read Presumed Innocent. I didn't like the traits of some of the characteres, but there were enough strong characters to carry the story. There were twists to the plot and I never did figure out what had happened until the end. Great book.
